A Note from the Founders

This page is a work in progress. It will be a growing list of links to organizations, publications, presses, and other entities that support poets and poetry in Texas and the Southwest.

Since the fall of 2005, we have been hosting an annual reading series to feature poets from the Texas Poetry Calendar. Since we published Wingbeats, in the summer of 2011, we have sponsored workshops in San Antonio, Austin, and Georgetown, Texas, as well as Memphis, Tennessee, and Madison, Wisconsin. One result is that every time we attend a poetry event, we are immediately aware that we belong to a community of poets and poetry. We want to foster that sense of community. This page is one way of doing that.

“As poets and writers, we at Gemini Ink believe that everyone has a word inside, a story inside, many stories in fact. We like to think of ourselves as the front porch, the cozy casita, the kitchen table, the cabin in the woods, the zocalo where people come together to release the words inside them and tell their stories. We believe communities are made of the stories they own and share. We also believe a good writing workshop can make any story a better story.”
